Flibanserin, sold under the tradename Addy, is a drug approved for the treatment of premenopausal women with impaired sexual desire (HSDD). The drug increases the number of satisfactory sexual intercourse. HSDD was recognized as a distinct sexual dysfunction for more than 30 years, but was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in 2013 and replaced by a new diagnosis called FSIAD (Sexual Excitement Disorder). Flibanserin is used for disorders of patients with reduced sexual desire in women. What is hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD)?
- A chronic or ongoing lack of interest in sex to the point that it causes a woman relationship problems and distress
